Security and Fire Alarm Assistant Technician (2017 B)

Urban Alarm is a fast growing security company serving customers from private residences to the US ARMY to your neighborhood hardware store and coffee shop. We are seeking an experienced security system installation technician to take a leadership role in the delivery of our security alarm, access control, and IP video services.

This position is on a track for a DC Master Electrician Limited Low Voltage license. You will be trained and supported in obtaining other DC, MD, and VA licenses.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

  • The work includes intrusion alarm systems, commercial fire alarm, access control, intercom / telephone entry systems, and IP video surveillance.
  • Assist Senior Technicians in the installation of low voltage wiring and devices.
  • Install wire molding, conduit, and other wire pathways and protection.
  • Prepare installation sites, cleanup sites and conclusion of day, keep tools and work areas neat and orderly.
  • Drive vehicle to pickup materials and supplies as needed.
  • Use hand tools including operating drills, drimels, hammer drills, jig-saws, etc.
  • Load and unload material from vehicles.


The ideal candidate should have experience in the installation and servicing of low-voltage electrical systems in residential and commercial environments; effective communication; and excellent skills with hand and power tools. You must be able to efficiently bend and install EMT pipe, mount devices, find pathways for wires, drill windows and doors for alarm sensors, and other trade skills for low voltage electrical work.
